Yo, boys and girls! Can't believe we've got less than a month to opening night. Scary - but tremendously exciting as well! Things certainly are heating up - the choreography is intensifying, and as of this week we've begun work with the band. A couple of weeks of rehearsing with the musicians and we'll be integrating them with the cast. By the third week of November, fingerz crossed, we'll be seeing the incorporation of acting, singing and movement, all at the same time (in a musical?! Get out of town)!!
Here's a shout-out to the band members whom I've been rehearsing with so far, Ryan, Isaac, Ming and Joe, who've been rockin' it with their electric guitars and drums and bass. We've still got a second keyboard coming in shortly - yours truly will be on first keyboard, even during the performances - so once that happens, it's going to sound pretty awesome!!
I leave you now with this murky audio clip of our rehearsal earlier today. It's not the best audio - it's basically a microphone plugged into the computer - but the point of this clip is not just to demonstrate the band's adeptness at handling challenging rhythms from the get-go (the bulk of this section being in 7/8), but also to demonstrate... well... the kind of volume my neighbours have to put up with, arf! Yup, we're rehearsing in a residential area. In a condo, to be more specific. So far, so good... though I suspect that having blogged about this, I've jinxed our chances of getting away with it!! :P
Check back in again soon for more cast bios and stuff, y'hear?
